Kova and Ross - now Seniors!

African-American Ice Dancing team competed

Juvenile through Junior levels

with four trips to US National Championships

now with their Senior Free Dance - Madness

Kova and Ross began skating together as youngsters when Kassy was only 12, and Justin was 15. They enjoyed a long, six-year partnership together, competing from Juvenile through Junior with four memorable trips to national championships.

Adulthood for both brought change, as fresh winds from new horizons blew their direction.  When Kassy turned 18, and Justin turned 21, Justin decided to take the leap to show skating, and he joined Disney on Ice. Kassy, in the middle of her college degree, decided to stick it out and complete her BA at UC San Diego.

Summer 2014, three years after their separation, both their lives had evolved again. Justin had completed two years with Disney on Ice, and returned to San Diego to continue working on his degree in Choreography, while coaching figure skating, and meanwhile, Kassy had completed her BA degree and had gone on to join Disney on Ice as a principal skater, playing the role of Princess Tiana.

On summer break from her Disney on Ice show, Kassy and Justin decided to put together their Senior Free Dance and put it to the test. One month later, with the genious choreography of Senior Ice Dancer and Coach Jon Nichols, Kova and Ross passed their Senior Free Dance. All the years of skating together came back naturally and reflected in their smooth symmetry. Enjoy their Senior Freedance here. The judges were unanimous that both of their professional experiences skating with Disney on Ice, gave the team improved polish and expression.

Kassy has now returned to her principal role with Disney on Ice, and Justin to his Choreography degree and coaching. They hold on to the possibility of performing in skating shows, and possibly competing again together sometime in the future.

to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.”
